I don’t know what the box is all about but you should still send me a copy of Marvel Zombies. Ultimate FF is the only Marvel thing I’m reading lately…
I have some questions that only shop guys could answer:
1. Does anybody actually buy those statues and all that crap?
2. Are there customers that you hate because they want to talk about books that you think suck?
3. How do you figure out what books to buy?
4. I can’t waste my time reading Civil War, tell me if it sucks or not.
Thanks for the wisdom…

Questions, questions!
1. People do buy the statues and figures! In fact, I have a solid collection brewing in the Bahlactus office space!
2. I’ll see if we can get The Bad Kids to answer that question on an upcoming podcast.
3. In the store? Or personally?
4. Civil War is a Pretty Good Thing(TM). It’s only seven issues and are up to issue #3, with issue #4 to release soon. Worth a read.
Thanks for hitting us up. Talk at you soon! Bahlactus has spoken.

Hey guys,
As a novice collector (HAH!) I just finished listening to the latest podcast and figured I’d chime in on this subject. Now, I have to say that I am TOTALLY a completist, I cannot rest until I have full runs of books that I buy! I must have them all! And I have to say, that my comics are my babies. I am way too attached to them, and i could not see a day where I would want to sell them (need to sell them because of space is another story).
My collection really started with two books (as I showed them to mike on wednesday he will know what I am talking about) Uncanny X-Men number 168, and New Teen Titans # 25. These issues began the collecting of these two books, and that was pretty much the ones I collected consitantly with my $ 5.00/week allowance. (don’t even get me started about what Dark Knight Returns did to that allowance…. needless to say my pharmacy career began at age 14 because I needed more money for comics) Portland, Maine being what it was at the time, there was one comic store so my collection was fairly limited at the time. College changed everything, Boston was like Mecca for this 18 year old back in 1990! Since then my collection has grown (much like the cost of comics for that matter) due to conventions in the early 90’s( I went to my first one my freshman year in college and got a full run of all the byrne reboot superman titles in the quarter bins, along with an almost complete run of dreadstar and all-star squadron…. I had a duffel bag filled with books and went back via the T twice to empty and then fill it up again. I miss quarter bins man) and expanded even more with the advent of the computer age (EBay be damned). I do have to say that if I did not have my job, or even a wife who has the same job, I would not be able to have the comics I have now or even collect all the titles I buy now. So I thank my lucky stars for that. I have so many good collecting stories, much like everyone who collects comics does, and I just wanted to reply to the podcasts (since Bahlactus whined about not getting feedback) which I am enjoying quite a bit.
Munson!
P.S. On a more humorous note, I got a kick out of the Marvel guide to collecting comics that Aaron mentioned and it reminded me of my Dad. Yes, my Dad was one of the first speculators- WAAYYYYY back in the 80’s (around 1982). When we went to the comic book store, he would buy stuff and keep it safe until such time as it was worth money, then sell it. What books did he buy that he thought would be worth big bucks - I will tell you. He collected the following books: Omega Men; Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld; and Tales of the New Teen Titans( original miniseries where they do the origin thing). He took these books, bagged them up, put them in Manilla folders in his bedroom bookcase, and never looked at them again. Fast forward to a couple of years later, they become a part of the Jeff Munson collection, as Harold realized they weren’t gonna be worth shit.
