Bahlactus, what's up mannn? I've finally made my way back to ya brah. Hey, I have this issue. In fact, I have the first year 1/2 of the Byrne Revamped Superman. I wasn't too crazy about the stories, even though I've always been a Byrne victim. He was still drawing tight when he was doing Superman though.
Thomas, there was a bit of hustle at the end of the issue. It turns out that even though Bloodsport talked a big game about going to 'NAM, he was really a draft-dodger.

His younger brother went to 'NAM in his place and ended up losing all his limbs. It was his brother that appeared to snap Bloodsport back into reality, in time for Superman to lay the pimp hand down on him.

Bloodsport did have the ability to pull weapons out of thin air using a teleportation device (he didn't really have powers). You can get down with more of Bloodsport in the Superman Up, Up, and Away story arc.

You know, I used to love Byrne's art for the DCU. All through Man Of Steel, Action Comics, the Legends series ... I'd devour those issues right off the rack.

But now, I just can stand him.

Bloodsport was cool enough, if maybe a bit too close in behavior and appearance to John Rambo to be truly original, but what was the big reveal at the end? I remember how he could teleport his weapons from thin air, but wasn't their a younger, weaker relative involved?

Check out The Adventures of Superman #507 & Action Comics #694. Bloodsport 1 & Bloodsport 2 (a white racist) have a prison boxing match with Superman as referee. Both Bloodsports wind up dead later.

Wow! I totally forgot about that comic, and Bloodsport, too. Can you believe that this was the fourth issue of the new Byrne revamp, which was supposed to make Superman better than pre-Crisis? By . . . fighting guys with guns? Byrne = weak game.
