I think while they've always had some sort of theme, the last three or so have been very targeted and focused. It's nice because it gives a sort of narrative flow to the 'cast. The interviews are still great, of course - it's just a different sort of informative.

Erin, glad you dig the format. Aside from the interviews, most of the cats listenin' seem pretty receptive to an overly themed format (i'm of the impression they have always been that though!)

In addition to my now-public love of crazy villains and dystopian futures, there is a special place in my heart for zombies. There's nothing like a shambling (or running, I suppose, depending on the breed) monstrosity to spell excitement. I like these clearly themed podcasts.

Kentucky rocks. And we got our share of zombies down here in the south. Faulkner once said that, 'In the South, the past is part of the present.' Well, he was gonna finish that line with, '...because zombies are friggin' all around us.' But as many of you don't know zombies ate Faulkner before he could finish that quote/maxim.

Anyways..........I love Kentucky [my brother] and wanted to drop a line. Seriously, if I find a good comic book store, I'll check this comic out. However, in Savannah, music stores and comic book stores are difficult to locate.

Peace my brethren............Stothe1

Man, all that talk about Marvel Zombies, and no mention of the original Marvel Zombie Simon Garth? He starred in the old Tales of the Zombie comic in the early '70s, but has also shown up in more recent comics including a recent Marvel MAX series.
Check out some 411 on my man Simon Garth:
http://www.marvel.com/universe/Zombie_%28Simon_Garth%29

Not to be confused with John Byrne's Garth the zombie from his She-Hulk run:

HE'S ALWAYS RIGHT!

He has the card to prove it.

"What's that? You want to eat my brains, you say? Grooaan? Well, can't argue with that."

Make no mistake, I love me some Munson. Have we even met yet, dude?
The "Suck it" comment was solely for humor purposes.

And Dan, nice recommendations. You know I'ma devouring those next time I'm in the shop. And yeah, Max Brooks is great. World War Z was HARD to put down!!!

Don't forget -- the safest place in case of a zombie outbreak is an oil derrick (stocked with supplies of course)...

You brain eatin' zombie bastards! What a fun podcast! I have a recommendate or two after listening. Back in the late 90's Dark Horse put out a series of comics called Zombie World. The first 3 issue mini-series was by Mignola and Pat McEown called Champion of the Worms and it was a really fun read. Some of the other short series or one shots were never quite as good but still fun reads, some not so great...at least they didn't do much for me at the time, maybe I should re-read them.
At any rate, to one up Pieces for Mom, which was pretty disturbing, I think the one shot Eat Your Heart Out, Zombie World Valentine's special takes the cake...or delicious brain if you prefer. It's the story of a loser who after pining for a girl finally gets her...chained up as a zombie in his basement. It's got a few of the most disturbing scenes I've ever seen in a comic (and no, it's not zombie sex). A creepy, touching, horrible story I highly recommend if you can find it.
I also suggest The Amazing Screw-On Head again by Mignola. It's a one shot also, absolutely hilarious and the main villain is Emperor Zombie. They just recently made a short animated movie for it too, which is also pretty fun.
If you are still interested in Zombie goodness but want to tread out of comics, I recently read the Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z. Both are by Max Brooks, the Guide is a real guide for surviving a zombie take over, it's a slow read but also a bit freaky as to how much thought went into it. The unofficial sequel, World War Z, is written as a non-fiction account of the Zombie War. It tells the story of the beginning of the war, the duration and how humanity was able to survive eradication by the living dead, but it does so in a series of interview with people that were at the various turning points. The book is really well written and creepily believeable. I also highly recommendate it.

I want to make a fuss for Munson, but hearing those calls before the podcasts is just too damn funny. Although, the calls for his return would also be good.
