Dark Stars: Cardiac
Dark Stars is about Black superheroes (and supervillians) that have appeared in MARVEL/DC mainstream history. It all started with a challenge to some friends at the Comics shop that they couldn’t name twenty Black characters between BOTH houses along the superhero & supervillian line. Like ABSOLUTE GALACTUS, I’ll be sharing the Dark Stars of MARVEL/DC appearances as they are added to my collection.

CLEAR!!! — Dr. Eli Wirtham, a.k.a. Cardiac

I wonder if he ever said “You’re under Cardiac arrest!!” while taking down a bad guy.

Dammit. Garth got the best comment in, already.
Anyway, I remember those Larsen days. I was just “green” enough to have been fooled by the transition from McFarlane to what I later considered to be a McFarlane-clone, in Erik Larsen.
I’m not sure I’d say that now, but I don’t think it was just a coincidence that he followed up McFarlane on Hulk, Spidey, and who knows what else.

West, you may be on to something about Larsen though, bruh. I used to think that McFarlane was slippin’ from time to time, then turned out it was Larsen trying to put on a good show.
..and yes, Garth is quick like that! Still, I’d like to hear any other Cardiac jabs, though! I had one last night, where he’d dive into battle screaming, “INFARCTION!!!!“, ala Imperious Rex!

…..PULMONARY finger…???
Punch a villain in the chest and say “Heart Attack!!”
Yeah….OK…..bye now.

“I’m gonna give you a shock to your system!”
Oh wait. That one’s taken.

By the way, are you sure his name isn’t “Cadillac?” *makes joke about Black people and Caddies*
Brutha could have a speech impediment.

He could do his best Redd Foxx imitation screaming “Oh, this is the big one!” while zapping the villain.
“Don’t expect any mercy from me. I’m a heartless son of a bitch!”
“Stroke three, you’re out!”

It’s funny.
When I was reading this run of Spider-Man, I was really digging on DC’s initial Blue Beetle series. At the time, I couldn’t shake the thought that Cardiac’s costume looked a lot like Ted Kord’s Blue Beetle (mixed with another BB villain called Catalyst).
Now, I’m looking at old Cardiac and thinking to myself: “Damn, this costume looks a hell of lot like Jaime Reye’s version of Blue Beetle.” Must be the pseudo-Apokolip-tik (spelling intentional) Kirby lines in the costume.

West, with all that loot the good Doctor is pullin’ down, you’d think he’d have somethin’!
