Thanks for post that cover, man! Believe it or not, I have issues 51 and 53 sitting here as I type and your earlier post reminded me that I need to track down the middle issue. I was going to mention how much that cover reminds me of of issue 53 with the Soul Strangler. The last panel of page 27 still makes me smile.

Damn. Dude’s hood is on-FIRE!

PrimeOp, I need to get down with issue #51 myself, bruh! The last panel on 27 is fire. You can’t beat sound effects like KRUMP!
West, I know, right? When I first got down with the issue, I thought he also had hooves for feet, but, that was just my mind playin’ tricks on me!

You are all missing the most important thing…..when did the Klan hire the guys who did the Kiss logo to hook them up with a logo? Scary, I guess Gene Simmons wasn’t kidding when he said Kiss was everywhere… they even influenced the Klan! Do you think that they realized that the end of the 70’s was going to bring a greater racial equality for all people, and decided to convert new members by adopting the font of mega-band Kiss? Or am I just completely insane? (Great cover all the same though… good to see Bob Budiansky get some love besides his Ghost Rider work)

I see how you thought that about the hooves. It’s clever (and deliberate, I think) use of shine and shadow that motivates the effect.

Munson — Great comment. :)
And, yeah, Clarence — that cover is a classic.

Munson, you know, it completely makes sense!
