Shout-Out! On the Shelf
Tuesday, December 4th, 2007On the real, I am starting to feel a bit burnt out on Comics. Not all Comics. But, definitely some of them. Luckily, I have a respectable stack of unread trades and hard-bounds that are queued up (and are definitely worth reading) that could keep me satiated for at least three months.
Comics such as Sentences: The life of M.F. Grimm. Hopefully you’ve gotten the memo that I am down with hip-hop; I’ve been looking forward to this book for over a year and it’s time to crack it open. For a couple of weeks since I picked it up, I have also been eyeballing Alan Moore’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen “Black Dossier”. Moore is an acquired taste, however, I cut my teeth on the Watchmen like so many others and the league has always been a secret fascination for me.
Jack Kirby has really been a champion for me this year as I am working my way through all three volumes of his Fourth World OMNIBUS series. Volume 3 dropped a couple of weeks ago; I am still digesting Volume 2, but, it has been a solid ride so far. Also marked for reading in my Kirby queue are the Silver StarGalactic Bounty Hunters(MARVEL).
There are so many Comics to be devoured in my trades and hard-bound collection that I know I will be covered until these publishing houses start putting out solid monthly issues worth the stretch (of reading). For now, I will dig into the books in my library still shrink-wrapped, sitting, and waiting, for my amazement and wonder. What is on your shelves that moves you? Hit me and let me know. Bahlactus has spoken.
